Great burgers, lobster rolls, fried belly clams, and german food? You bet! This place isn't on the water, but the food is much better than most places that are. They also have a pretty good craft beer selection, (three IPA's) as well as a well stocked full bar. Will go whenever we're in town!

Amazing food and service. Will always come back!!! The Spaetzle is a must try!! Sitting outdoors and enjoying the breeze made it even more enjoyable. The owner is also the chef and she does a splendid job if you order a bit off the menu. Coffee is also very nice and strong.

Amazing fried clams! Waitress told me they had been pulled from the mud this morning. I believe it.

Lobster club wonderful and big. Lots of lobster. Not really full of mayo either. Schnitzel fingers had to try and that too great.... clamp chowder had whole fresh clams. Not the usual all cream and few clams bites... will surely come back... dessert menu sounded grand

Just a few days left in Maine, as I'm finishing up a 60-day work contract here, a friend and I decided it would be fun to drive out to Saint George again to see the sculptures. On the way, we saw this little place with the "open" flag and deck seating and a little bakery next door. And decided it would do for lunch. That was an understatement at best. I'm not sure what the locals would say, but there were plenty of them there. And we decided we may have found the most totally amazing delicious restaurant on the Maine coast. Only complaint is that the menu is so extensive and everything that came out of the kitchen (the little deck was full but not crowded, tables well spaced so that everyone had plenty of room) looked so good it was so hard to make a choice. We had some wine and took a long time to order (the waitress was alone trying to serve both indoors and out, but we were in no hurry). Fresh crab, fresh lobster, baskets of all kinds of seafood, great sounding sandwiches...a whole page of German specialties that look amazing... we didn't try the schnitzel or potato pancakes, but we'd have liked to: the cooks must specialize in German cuisine, because who would just randomly decide to open a German restaurant on the coast of Maine, right? Finally, we ordered way too much food. The lobster roll was amazing ... a toasted buttered roll and big chunks of fresh lobster and drawn butter. Perfect. Mussels were more than enough for a complete meal; they were small but tender, clean and steamed in a really delicious spicy sauce with fresh tomato and scallion and herbs and served with toasted garlic bread. My friend who is NOT a seafood lover ordered a (huge) hamburger with cheese and bacon and all the extras. She ended up taking half of it back to save for work tonight. We couldn't even think about dessert, and the bakery next door went unvisited. This is one of those few restaurants that make us wish we had way bigger appetites and stomachs. Four more days... possibly time enough for lunch and dinner and another look at the sculptures?!

As a person who doesn't like seafood, I knew coming to Maine would be an adventure in eating. I got the Burger. It was super yummy! My cousin got the seafood combo basket and it was a bit over cooked. My fiancé order the special, which was the prime rib sandwich and said it was very good as well. I found it a bit odd that they have pictures of celebrities all over but none of those celebrities had actually been to the restaurant.

Had a wonderful lunch at the Happy Clam, splitting a lobster roll with coleslaw. I love how they serve the lobster roll with no mayo and just drawn butter. It's so nice to see the tasty ME ingredients speak for themselves. The outdoor seating is very family-friendly (although bring bug spray). Great experience when you're in need of a casual ME meal.

My husband and I are staying in Port Clyde for a week and ventured out with hopes of hitting a lobster shack for lunch -after stopping at Mcloons where the wind was too fierce to eat outside and realizing that Cod End was closed for the season we decided to change plans and stop at the Happy Clam since we've driven by so many times on other trips to Maine. We were happy we stopped - We sat outside and enjoyed feeling the warm sun. We strayed far a way from a lobstah roll and went with the Weiner schnitzel sandwich and some cold beers and were pleasantly surprised. We should have split the sandwich as it was huge but delicious and the service was prompt and friendly....I'm sure we will stop back here again this week during our stay.

We had a very good dinner there, trying both sides of the menu. My wife had schnitzel (she was born in Germany) and said it was very good. I tried it, and agree wholeheartedly. I had a bowl of clam chowder and a 'wedge salad.' The chowder was excellent, made with milk (authentic), not cream, and whole steamer clams out of their shell. Excellent flavor and well-prepared. The salad, however, was a disappointment. It wasn't even close to the classic wedge salad...served all splayed-out, and with a balsamic vinaigrette and a few crumbles of 'bleu' cheese...and a few pieces of strawberries (?!??). Not good at all. But, as we were leaving, another couple stopped my wife and asked her if she had the blueberry pie. Nonplussed, she replied in the negative, whereupon the couple went goonie-goo-goo and told her that she MUST have the pie. So, she asked the waitress (who apparently makes the pie) for a piece to go. We got home with it, and had two take-out conatiners in the back. One with about a quarter of *delicious* homemade pie, and the other with three big scoops of very good vanilla ice cream, all for 5$. This made up for the salad. If in the area, we will return (oh, and we loved the beer selection, too).

German explosion. The food was incredible and the portions are huge at a great price. Will visit everytime I go to Maine. This is a goto .....

First & Last time at the "Happy" Clam. After driving by for years & hearing everyone rave about the Prime rib we decided to take the plunge. Sorry to say I should have kept driving right by. Slow service & food I'm taking home for my dog. Next time I'll go to the Black Harpoon!!

How come I never finished this review? We had a good time here on our Maine trip. Had the last lobster available that day, salmon with fried shrimp, and native Belfast bay red lobster ale. A good time was had by all (two of us).
